Why cycles go wrong

It is not just in your head, and it is not just stress.

Every month, a small gland at the base of the brain (the pituitary) sends hormone signals to the ovaries telling them when to release an egg and when to make progesterone. When those signals are off, often because prolactin is a little too high or progesterone is too low in the second half of the cycle, the whole month is affected: periods come early, late or not at all, the days before your period become hard, and getting pregnant can take longer.

These are not personality traits or something you must simply push through. They are signs, and there is usually a cause that can be worked on.

If you have any of these regularly, your hormones may be the cause:

  • Periods that come early, late, or not at all
  • Mood swings, irritability or anxiety before your period
  • Breast tenderness, bloating or pelvic discomfort
  • Painful periods that disrupt your day
  • Difficulty getting pregnant without a clear reason
  • Tiredness and low energy in the week or two before your period

Did you know?

PMS (premenstrual syndrome) is the name for the physical and emotional changes many women have in the one to two weeks before their period, such as mood swings, bloating, breast tenderness and tiredness. Chasteberry is one of the most studied plant extracts for easing it.

Why many chasteberry products fall short

1

Chasteberry alone misses the pain

Plain chasteberry works on hormone signals, but does little for cramps. Boswellia and ginger are added for that.

2

Stress is ignored

Ongoing stress can stop ovulation on its own. Chamomile and vitamin B1 help calm that pathway.

3

Painkillers only cover it up

They help on the day, but the cramps return every month. Draxer's Vitex works on the cause over time.

How Draxer's Vitex works

Four important pathways

Hormonal health needs a whole-body approach. Draxer's Vitex works on hormone signals, inflammation, stress and the gut at the same time.

Hormones

Balances the monthly signal

Chasteberry acts on the pituitary gland, bringing down raised prolactin and helping it send the right signals for ovulation. This supports progesterone in the second half of your cycle.

Chasteberry 500 mg

Inflammation

Calms period pain

Boswellia and ginger reduce the inflammation and the chemical messengers (prostaglandins) that cause cramping and pelvic pain, working on the source rather than masking it.

Boswellia 150 mg · Ginger 100 mg

Stress

Eases the stress pathway

Stress hormones can switch off ovulation. Chamomile has a calming effect and gently relaxes the womb, and vitamin B1 has been shown in studies to reduce PMS.

Chamomile 150 mg · Vitamin B1 25 mg

Gut

Supports absorption

Zinc carnosine supports a healthy gut lining so your body can absorb what you take. Zinc is also needed to make progesterone.

Who this is for

Is Draxer's Vitex right for you?

A targeted formula for women with hormone-driven symptoms, not a general wellness supplement. If you recognise yourself in one or more of these, it was designed with you in mind.

1

Irregular or missed periods

Periods that come unpredictably, or not at all. Chasteberry helps bring back a regular ovulation rhythm. Most women notice a change within two to three cycles of steady use.

2

PMS and severe PMS

Mood swings, breast tenderness, irritability, bloating and tiredness in the one to two weeks before your period. Chasteberry, chamomile and vitamin B1 work on both the hormone and the nerve side of it.

3

Raised prolactin

Prolactin that is high outside pregnancy or breastfeeding can quietly stop ovulation for months. Chasteberry works on the pathway that controls prolactin.

4

Trying to conceive

If irregular cycles, weak ovulation or a short second half of the cycle are making it harder, Draxer's Vitex helps restore the hormone conditions for natural conception. It is not a fertility drug. Once pregnancy is confirmed, stop and speak to your prescriber.

5

Painful periods

Cramps that stop you working, moving or getting on with your day. Boswellia and ginger target the inflammation behind them, which plain chasteberry products do not.

What to expect

Hormonal balance takes time. Here is what to expect.

Draxer's Vitex is not a painkiller or a quick fix. It works by gradually resetting the hormone signals your body sends every month, so results build over cycles, not days.

Weeks 1 to 4

Settling in

Some women notice less anxiety before their period or lighter cramps in the first cycle. Most will not see big changes yet, and that is expected.

Month 2

Early shifts

Cycle length may begin to steady. PMS symptoms usually start to ease, and raised prolactin begins to come down.

Month 3

Meaningful change

Most women have more regular cycles, less pain and a calmer week before their period. Ovulation is usually clearly better by now.

Months 4 to 6

Full effect for fertility

For women trying to conceive, this is the window that matters most, as progesterone in the second half of the cycle reaches its best.

Combining with GynoEssence

For women with PCOS/PMOS or a mixed picture, where both hormone signals and blood sugar (insulin) are involved, Vitex and GynoEssence cover different ground and work well together.

Draxer's Vitex targets

The monthly hormone signal from the brain; progesterone in the second half of the cycle; raised prolactin; period pain; stress

GynoEssence targets

Insulin resistance and blood sugar; excess male hormones; ovulation through the metabolic route; egg quality

Recommended approach: start with GynoEssence for 4 to 6 weeks to work on insulin first. If cycles are still irregular or progesterone is still low, add Draxer's Vitex. A pharmacist can help you sequence this.

Use with caution if your cycles are already regular, if you are on hormonal contraception or prescription hormone medicine, or if the cause of your symptoms has not been checked; ask a pharmacist first.

How to take it, and safety

Read before you start

Dose

Two capsules, twice a day (morning and evening), or as directed by a healthcare professional. Take it every day, through your period too. Steady use gives the best results.

Do not take if

You are allergic to any ingredient, or under 18. If you are having fertility treatment, speak to your prescriber before starting.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

Not for use in pregnancy or while breastfeeding. If you are trying to conceive, stop once pregnancy is confirmed and speak to your prescriber.

Possible side effects

Most women take it without any problem. A few notice mild stomach upset, headache or a skin rash at the start, which usually settle. Seek advice if a reaction occurs.

With other medicines

Tell your prescriber or pharmacist if you take hormonal contraception, hormone medicine, medicine for mental health or Parkinson's, or blood thinners. Chasteberry and ginger can affect how some of these work.

Noticed anything unexpected?

Every medicine, herbal or otherwise, can have side effects. Tell us and we will advise on what to do.

Report a side effect

Draxer's Vitex is a dietary supplement with active ingredients chosen to support your hormonal health. It works alongside, not instead of, any treatment your prescriber has advised, so keep taking prescribed medicine unless they tell you otherwise. Keep out of the reach of children and store as directed on the pack.
